What Will You Do in the IT Department at LAYERTEC?

As an IT specialist, you can address the high-tech needs of your clients down to the smallest bit. At our company, the apprenticeship is offered in the fields of System Integration and Application Development.

Your tasks will include:

Application Development

• Designing and implementing software applications
• Testing and documenting applications, as well as modifying existing ones
• Developing intuitive and user-friendly interfaces
• Presenting applications, as well as training and advising users

System Integration

• Installing and configuring networked information and telecommunication systems
• Commissioning information and telecommunication technology systems
• Applying methods of project planning, execution, and control
• Troubleshooting using expert and diagnostic systems
• Administering information and telecommunication systems
• Presenting system solutions
• Advising and training users

By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll be able to solve a wide range of application and system problems, set up networks, advise users on hardware and software issues, and provide flexible IT support.

How Does Your Apprenticeship Work?

• 3 years of vocational training (shortened to 2 - 2.5 years with outstanding performance)
• Dual training at our company and at the Andreas-Gordon Vocational School in Erfurt
• Block lessons at the vocational school (2 weeks at a time)
• Learning technical and methodological basics at the vocational school
• Reinforcing and deepening the knowledge gained through practical work at our company

What Should You Bring?

• German language proficiency, minimum B2 level
• Good secondary school diploma, technical college entrance qualification, or general higher education entrance qualification
• Technical understanding
• Logical thinking skills
• Spatial awareness and dexterity
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Conscientiousness and willingness to learn
• Persistent work ethic
• Self-motivation, enjoyment in planning and organizing
• Good English skills are desirable

What Happens Next?

IT specialists can specialize as sought-after professionals in specific areas, such as particular programming languages or database development. Additionally, further training as a software developer or pursuing a subsequent degree in computer science is possible.

If interested and qualified, there is also the option to take on a leadership role with more responsibility.
