Together for Greater Biodiversity – LAYERTEC Sponsors a Wildflower Meadow in Mellingen

Together with the municipality of Mellingen and seven other local companies, we are supporting the wildflower strip project run by the Mellingen agricultural cooperative, helping to create more habitat for insects and wildlife right in our own backyard.

As a sponsor, we help fund one of the areas that provide greater biodiversity along the cycling paths around Mellingen and on the edge of the village. In total, the agricultural cooperative’s wildflower strips cover eight hectares, planted with a mix of native wildflowers and herbs. In addition, 15 hectares are left to nature without any targeted planting, and 26 hectares are used for regional seed propagation, growing species such as red clover, yarrow, and meadow sage that are later reintroduced into the wildflower seed mixtures.

For us, this sponsorship is above all a clear statement of support for the agricultural cooperative’s approach. Our site is located right in the middle of this landscape, so it feels natural for us to take responsibility beyond our own company grounds as well. The wildflower sponsorship complements our existing sustainability initiatives, such as our CO2-neutral heating and cooling supply and our participation in the Thuringia Sustainability Agreement (NAThüringen).
