How to Mount Optics

Mounting optics can introduce mechanical stress into the substrate, which in turn can deform the mirror surface. Understanding the balance between securing the optics firmly and minimizing stress is crucial for optimal performance.

Fig.1:3-point mount without tightening: Optics whithout stress, but it might fall out if tipped.

LAYERTEC recommends to reduce the tightening of the grub screw slightly after mounting and positioning the optics.

Take care with ring mounts. By using ring mounts, you can damage your optics. Even small friction can splinter the coating and render it unusable. Optics in a ring mount may also seize up easily during assembly.
